Better health for the whole family.
Dr. Elizabeth R. Dy is an airway-centric restorative dentist trained to address tethered oral tissues that may affect the sleep, eating, speech and breathing of patients of ALL ages.
Tethered Oral Tissues Release Provider,
The Breathe Institute Affiliate
Confidence that you can trust.
Dr. Dy was selected by her mentor Dr. Soroush Zaghi and his team at The Breathe Institute to serve the community as a Breathe Affiliate. During her affiliate residency, Dr. Dy spent time receiving hands-on live training with Dr. Zaghi and his team at both his office in Los Angeles, CA and her office in Tampa, FL.
TBI Affiliates are carefully selected from a pool of applicants who have successfully completed TBI's 5 Day Intensive Breathe Course on Sleep, Breathing, and Functional Frenuloplasty and reached out to delve even deeper. Those selected are invited into the only program offered allowing graduates to say they have been "Trained by Zaghi and The Breathe Institute."
Dr. Elizabeth R. Dy graduated as a general dentist from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2011. Her general dentistry practice, Sweet Tooth Dentistry, is located in Tampa, FL and focuses on comprehensive laser, cosmetic, and family dentistry. Taking a functional approach to treatment care, Dr. Dy prides herself in utilizing both experience and technology to educate her patients and allow for the best long-term treatment outcomes. Her practice philosophies include a multi-disciplinary approach to care regardless of the focus, which in her practice can range from restorative dentistry to tethered oral tissues (such as tongue-ties) and sleep and breathing disorders.
Dr. Dy is often overheard telling patients how their teeth and tongue tell her a story about what is happening when they aren’t paying attention. She truly enjoys becoming a part of their wellness journeys and encouraging them to become their own healthcare advocates.
Dr. Dy is an experienced laser dentist and has worked with dental lasers since 2014. Not all lasers are created equal and they all have different strengths (and weaknesses). Dr. Dy utilizes a variety of hard and soft-tissue lasers in her practice to complement her procedures. For tethered oral tissues releases, such as the functional frenuloplasty, her laser of choice is the LightScalpel CO2 laser.
In June 2022, The Sleep and Breathing Wellness Center was officially launched as an extension of Sweet Tooth Dentistry. In August 2022, The Sleep and Breathing Wellness Center physically separated out on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, finding a new home in New Tampa within Dau Orthodontics. Click here for more info.

Collaboration is key. The tongue has connections to the whole body through a system of connective tissue known as fascia. Our functional frenuloplasty approach honors the changes that occur during a tongue-tie release and prepares the body for acceptance and optimal healing post-treatment. As such, it is often times necessary to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach in order to achieve a complete and effective release of tethered oral tissues. Below is a list of providers that have been carefully selected by Dr. Dy to complement her approach to care.
